The First 48 League is an All-Star league featuring the Top 48 kids in the classes of 2022, 2023, and 2024. ELITE PLAYERS ONLY!
MBA has decided to add the classes of 2020 and 2021 to its 1st Annual First 48 League. The "Sophomore Showcase" and "Freshmen Focus" divisions will both follow the same format as the younger divisions, the top 48 kids in each particular class.
Why the name "First 48"? Of course everyone has seen the reality tv crime show "The First 48", a show that frequents the city of Memphis and its staggering murder rate. That show, much like our local news seems to highlight and magnify the negative occurrences that take place in our city. We decided to take a term with a negative connotation and put a positive spin on it.
The kids will be divided into 6 teams of 8. Each team will be coached by proven and experienced AAU coaches. The teams will be divided evenly and selected by the MBA staff.
The season will begin Aug. 20th with a jamboree and conclude with Championships on October 1st. All games will be played on Sunday afternoons and evenings. There will be a $5 admission for adults and $3 for kids.
The cost per participant will be $49.74 and may be paid via PayPal on our website. The cost for players that don't prepay online and wait until Sunday to pay will be $58. Each child will receive their own uniform shorts and jerseys. The uniforms will be like none other and will definitely be FOR THE CULTURE.
What will separate the First 48 from other leagues will be its extensive Social Media coverage; YouTube channel, Facebook posting, and Instagram flooding. Individual and team highlights will be in abundance. There will be interview segments, a Coach T Cam, and Atok's Earl Harden will be announcing the games. SportsLife will be the primary media outlet, so you know cameras will be rolling and the bright lights will be on!
